In the beginning, she was called The Belleview Hotel and she was spectacular. Over time, she has been enlarged, modernized, stripped, occupied, weathered, renovated, and damaged by hurricanes. She has been sold several times and renamed The Belleview Biltmore Hotel, The Belleview Mido Hotel, and currently, The Belleview Biltmore Resort, but through all the changes, she managed to continue to rein as the ‘White Queen of the Gulf’. Her current owners closed her doors to guests on June 1, 2009, to begin her most extensive renovation to date… a $100 million historical makeover, aimed to bring her back to her 1930s era splendor. If you are interested in looking at historic photographs of her past, or renderings of what she will become over the next three years if the fates allow, there is no better place to do so than the hotel’s own website, at www.BelleviewBiltmore.com .
This page will attempt to record and update interested parties about the progress of the renovation and endeavor to supply interesting tidbits of information about the resort, photographs and even share some memories from people who are, or were for a time, closely associated with the hotel and have thus, become part of her history.
